Little Grandma

For my thesis project I am illustrating the memories of my great grandmother using pictures from her family photo albums as reference. My great grandma has a large collection of photographs taken throughout her life, and I have enjoyed going through them for as long as I can remember. She seems to have a story to tell for each image, and has a great memory for a ninety-eight year old. Every time we flip through the photo album together, I learn something new about her, and as I get older she gets more comfortable telling me the unfiltered versions of her stories. I hope to show her how beautiful her life is through her great granddaughters eyes, and that every story she tells paints beautiful pictures of her in my mind.

Bio

I am currently an illustration student. In my free time you can find me stomping through the woods, looking for bugs, bothering my dog, knitting, enjoying music or songwriting.

My work is often inspired by the fairy and folk tales I grew up reading. I am heavily influenced by nature, and enjoy using natural elements as symbolism to aid the narratives in my illustrations. I use primarily gouache paint, but also enjoy pen and ink, acrylic, watercolor, and colored pencil.
