The Alchemy of Nature and Soul

Alchemy is the transformation of one thing into another. Throughout history alchemy has been used to turn something ordinary into something extraordinary. In this body of work, I am exploring human connection to nature through the lens of these concepts in order to show that we are as much nature as any plant or animal, and to demonstrate how we interact with nature in our everyday lives. This is shown through themes of spirituality, individuality, science, nature, art, and design. My aim is to blur the lines between these themes in order to show how transmutable both humans and nature are and that we face the same confrontations with change, survival, and the beauty in between. In the same way that our weaknesses can be transformed into strengths, nature can die and regrow more beautifully than before.

Bio

Aressa’s process includes elements of typography,  collage, photography, videography, and painting. She finds enjoyment in the degree of perfection that can be achieved working in digital spaces but she also enjoys the detail and tactile feeling of analog work. She likes to find methods of combining both her analog and digital processes in order to create effective and original graphic imagery whenever possible.
